Ice Spice to Perform on “Saturday Night Live” Season 49 Premiere with Pete Davidson as Host
“Saturday Night Live” is set to make a triumphant return with Ice Spice as its first musical guest for the upcoming season 49 premiere on October 14.
After a period of uncertainty due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike that brought Hollywood to a near standstill, “Saturday Night Live” is back on track with new agreements in place.
Pete Davidson, a nine-year veteran of the comedy series, will return as the guest host for the season premiere. Davidson’s previous plans to host an episode last May were derailed by the writer’s strike. Now, he is making his comeback in a role he knows well.
Joining Davidson is Ice Spice, marking her second television appearance. The Bronx native recently featured in an advertisement with Ben Affleck as part of her partnership with Dunkin’ Donuts.
In a January interview with HOT 97’s Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg, the “Princess Diana” hitmaker revealed that her original dream career was acting. “I didn’t ever really, like, see myself being a rapper,” she said. “I always wanted to be an actress. That was, like, my first passion.”
Ice Spice is currently enjoying the success of her latest project, Like..? (Deluxe), and was awarded Best New Artist at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in September.
During her acceptance speech, she expressed her gratitude, saying, “Y’all, thank you so much. Thank you, MTV. Oh my God, this is so cool. I just want to thank my Munchkins. I love you guys so much. I want to thank my manager, James. I want to thank my producer, Riot, for making the best music with me.”
Following Ice Spice’s performance, the next episode of “SNL” is scheduled for October 21, featuring Bad Bunny as both host and musical guest. The “K-POP” collaborator first appeared on the show in 2020 and returned the following year.
